“I try to create things that make people happy,” says Juan Díaz-Faes. With an unpretentious approach to art-making and a fun-loving visual language, this emerging Spanish artist conjures loveable characters from geometries, lines and bustling patterns. Since 2017, cities such as Miami, Austin, Guangzhou, Uruguay, Madrid or Santander, are home to large-scale wall murals by Juan Díaz-Faes. I wanted these fins to be a personal version of three iconic models I grew up with.

Like a folk song or jazz standard that eventually is being re written, or modified to become your own version of a song, I began to change the curves of these classic fins through the years, to evolve with my surfing and the type of waves I surf most of the time."
